From the Mouth of Boyds Creek: A History of Seymour, Tennessee and the Boyds Creek Valley

Filled with stories of the first inhabitants of the Boyds Creek Valley, from Indigenous peoples to the early settlers and those who were enslaved, this account moves through the centuries and decades in a chronological fashion up to the present day. It is based on over 100 interviews with current residents and the descendants of those who have moved on.

“This well-researched chronological history of the Boyds Creek Valley explores both the land and its people, linking the history of Sevier County, Appalachia, Tennessee, and the nation. The authors present an honest and insightful account of how generations of people lived and felt, worked and struggled in the region, combining regional history and personal family stories. It is an essential read for understanding the complex history of the Boyds Creek community." Janet King, Retired Seymour Educator

Continued demand made a 4th printing of the book necessary. It is now available at the Williams Family Seymour Branch Library and other sites of the Sevier County Public Library System. This is a project of the Friends of Seymour Library, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All proceeds from the book go to enhance the library’s resources and programs.
